ENYCE
Launched in 1997 by Evan
Davis, Lando Felix and Tony Shellman as a mens’ line. ENYCE has always been
influenced by the energy and diversity of New York City. This season, the eight-year-old
company takes its cues from around the globe. The two collections are awash in
bright colors and innovative fabric treatments, from ethnic-inspired prints to
whimsical takes on the proto-retro preppy styles favored by the jet set. Co-Founder
Tony Shellman says that the inspiration came from the various travels of the ENYCE
design team. “The ENYCE customer has always been attuned to what’s
happening on the streets, but our customer is also interested in what’s
happening in the world,” Shellman says. “We wanted to reflect the
fun and insight that we had gleaned through our experiences as travelers.”
The young mens’ ENYCE reflects the global theme in a big way, by mixing
tropical colors and textiles of the Pacific Rim, Africa and the Caribbean with
preppy standards. EYNCE believes that the sun-drenched Los Angeles climate and
LA Fashion Week ideally reflect the hip hop clothings collection’s mood.
“These collections are about fun, sun, and freedom, California is the perfect
place to make that hip hop clothing statement.”
